Which is your favorite quilting ruler?

Which ruler is your favorite, and/or which would you give up FIRST???

Here is my favorite ruler.  I love it because I can fold my fabric [selvage to selvage] and it is long enough to cut cross grain strips in a swipe.

My favorite use for it, however, is to fold my fabric stash.  I start by folding my fabric piece into thirds with the selvages running horizontally.  Then I lay the ruler on one end of the strip and flip the ruler over and over until the whole piece of fabric is wrapped around the ruler.  Next, I tuck in the end, so it is neat and tidy, pull out the ruler, and stack it on my shelf.  Obviously, you could use any ruler you wanted, but this one fits my shelves comfortably depth-wise and it is wide enough so my stacks are stable and don’t fall over.

I can’t wait to see what your favs are!

  1. I can't say I have a favorite. It really depends on what I am cutting out. I use ALL my rulers pretty regularly. Suppose that's why I have so many??????? I will say, I use the 3" x 18" to cut out most things to start with, and then move on to other squares to square up blocks, corners, and then my long ruler to trim sides after quilting. So there you have it! I USE THEM ALL!!!!!!!!
